The summer is a great time to be in the BVI. The weather is perfect and the anchorages less crowded. Statistically summer charters are very unlikely to be affected by hurricanes but a prudent traveler should always consider purchasing travel insurance.

Most charter yachts have a clause in their extensive contracts covering "Acts of God" which enables them to cancel with impunity. Our approach has always been more personal and sensitive to a strong and enduring relationship with our guests.

 

For those who decide not to take out insurance, we hope that the following policy will offer some peace of mind.

Scenario:

1. A hurricane is tracking through the Caribbean before you leave home.

• We advise you not to come. In this case we would re-apply your fee to another week
• We advise you to come, based on locally available weather predictions but you cancel anyway. (Be assured, the last thing we want is to have you here during a hurricane. We would not advise it if we thought there was any danger). In such a case we would maintain that you have forfeited your charter fee.

2. A hurricane affects a charter in progress.

• We provide two nights charter credit for each night lost to be used against a future charter (maximum of 6 nights credit)
• We provide complimentary accommodations at Summer Heights should you elect to remain in the BVI during the passage of the storm.
