Jamie RobertsJamie has never been far away from the ocean.  A native of Vancouver, BC, this 29 year old Canadian grew up vacationing with his family around the Puget Sound and its many islands.

From an early age he developed a love for the sea and soon became a proficient salmon and halibut fisherman.  This experience served him well at an exclusive sport fishing resort in the Queen Charlotte Islands where he took a summer job as a fishing guide.  He soon progressed to the position of mate on the resort’s floating restaurant, a 150’ converted minesweeper.

Following high school graduation, Jamie decided to defer his college attendance for a year and go traveling.  He joined a Bahai dance group and toured Fiji, the Cook Islands and Hawaii.   The group spent their time living with villagers in remote communities where they learned to become self sufficient by catching and growing their own food.  When the group returned to Canada, Jamie stayed on in Hawaii, where he soon developed a passion for surfing.

In 1997, Jamie became the first international student to enroll at the HLS Community College in Tortola where he studied marine biology for a year.  Racing aboard the college sailboat in Foxy’s renowned wooden boat regatta was his first real island sailing experience.  He fell in love with the BVI and, at the end of his studies back home, soon returned.   Jamie joined Endless Summer II as first mate at the end of 1999.  He soon realized that the charter industry was the perfect career for him and, after successfully completing the Royal Yachting Association Yacht Master’s Certificate in England, was promoted to captain of ESII in the spring of 2003.

Discovering the BVI with Jamie is a real delight.  He loves the local culture and island life.  With his cheerful and outgoing personality, he is the perfect vacation guide.  He is a PADI certified advanced diver who has a detailed knowledge of the very best snorkeling locations in the islands.   Whether he is teaching water sports or sailing, or creating amazing tropical concoctions for happy hour, Jamie always has a quiet friendly confidence that makes everything more pleasurable.

In the summer of 2006 Jamie married Adenike, a Jamaican lawyer working for a BVI trust company.  They have a home in Tortola and both are actively involved in the BVI community.
